Font Research

I have been researching fonts that I can use in my magazine as the house font style. I looked through a large amount of different fonts on dafont.com and took screenshots of the best ones and cut them into a paint document where i arranged them into the image bellow. The closest match to the font I designed on my flat plan is "Basic Font" which is the 5th font type down on the left of the image but when in the magazine it looked to basic so i decided to use a combination of Jim Thorpe and Gramophone.

The reason I have chosen the Jim Thorpe and Gramophone fonts is because they both show typical stylings of the Classic rock genre. When using the capital letters on the Jim Thorpe font it is white which allowed me to change the colour.  The O at the start of the magazine title (which is Off Topic) will be replaced by a vinyl record that also has the name across the label in the centre. The font is a good match for the genre because it looks like an older style of text and also looks hand written.
